Building a Kenya Property Due-Diligence Team While You Live Abroad

Buying property from another country is easier when no single person controls every piece of information. A small due-diligence team can help you separate sales enthusiasm from independent verification.

Separate the roles

The person selling a property should not be the only person explaining the title, valuation, legal documents, condition or management plan. Independent roles create useful checks and balances.

Decide what must be verified before money moves

Create a written list covering identity of the seller, ownership records, property condition, transaction documents, payment milestones and who is responsible for each check.

Keep a shared evidence file

Store reports, receipts, correspondence, photos and signed documents in one place that the buyer controls. That makes it easier to compare what was promised with what was verified.

Use deadlines instead of pressure

A genuine opportunity should still survive reasonable questions. If you are being pushed to send money before basic verification is complete, treat the pressure itself as information.

General information only. Property, legal, tax, title and transaction requirements can change; verify current requirements with qualified professionals and the relevant Kenyan authorities before committing funds.
